(UPDATE) Motherhood seems to become 26-year-old Katrina Halili even if she’s only three months pregnant.
The popular antagonist or villainess of various GMA7 soaps was a far cry from her dark screen persona as she discussed her pregnancy with “Startalk” host Ricky Lo on Saturday, March 24.
"Three months po. Last February ko po nalaman," she told Ricky.
She also admitted it took a day before the fact that she’s an expectant mother sunk in. Katrina said she thought of her career and her future in showbiz.
"Ready na ba akong may ibang taong iisipin? Masaya ako. Blessing ito," she expressed.
Some people think her pregnancy came at a wrong time, since Katrina’s career is just gaining momentum again after it was rocked by a sex video scandal involving former doctor Hayden Kho.
But Katrina thinks otherwise. The pregnancy, she added, came at a time when hers and Kris Lawrence’s (the father of her unborn child) mom expressed their wish to have a grandchild.
"Blessing ka and mamahalin kita and gagawin ko ang lahat para maging maganda ang future mo," was Katrina’s message to her baby.
Preparations
In preparation for motherhood, she asked the production of her TV series "Beloved" to take her out of the show. She said that she wouldn't fit into a sexy character anymore. She's also reading books on pregnancy and taking vitamins. But the people behind the show told her she is still needed in the series.
Katrina added that she has to rest and will stay in her native Palawan for a few months. She intends to give birth in Manila.
Though Kris is said to be taking full responsibility of their baby, the couple is not getting married anytime soon. The focus remains on the baby.
"Napagdesisyunan na hindi. Sabi nga ng tatay ko na hindi kailangang na-pressure si Kris dahil sa nangyari. Pag-ready na kami at gustong-gusto naming magpakasal, saka kami magpapakasal," she shared.
Katrina plans to return to showbiz after giving birth in September. She promises to be her sexy self again before she returns to acting. Katrina has made a mark as a kontrabida in the series "Langit sa Piling Mo," "Beauty Queen," "Munting Heredera" and "My Beloved" among others. More Photos of Katrina Halili ->>
